About this route
The tarred R62 threads the Langeberg between Ashton and Montagu, following the Kingna River past towering sandstone cliffs and through Bain's hand-cut 1877 Kalkoenkrans tunnel beneath an old Anglo-Boer War fort. More poort than pass, the gentle gradient makes it an easy, scenic spin into the Klein Karoo.
