About this route
The eastern approach to Franschhoek Pass on the R45, climbing roughly 9.8 km and 590 m at a steady 4.3% from the Theewaterskloof Dam side up sweeping switchbacks to the 740 m summit. A Cat 2 grind on exposed, often wind-raked tar, and the linchpin of the Cape's classic Four Passes loop.
